A nixie tube is an electronic device for displaying numerals or other information. The glass tube contains a wire-mesh anode and multiple cathodes in the shape of numerals and/or symbols. Applying power to one cathode surrounds it with an orange glow discharge. The tube is filled with a gas at low pressure, usually mostly neon and often a little mercury and/or argon. The danger of this project comes from the high voltage needed to ignite and maintain the tube (150V for ignition and around 120 to 140V to maintain their glow); K155IND1 drivers where specially made for this application. By modulating the Maintaining Voltage we can dim the nixie luminosity making it an amazing art piece on your desk.
I used six Zm1000 nixie tubes with K155IND1 for the tube drivers .
Besides time, it was displaying temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit.
On the back I had dimming buttons for leds and the tubes.
I used Arduino Uno for burning the code in the ATmega328.
